MLS's Top-Selling Jersey: Can You Guess Which One?
The Inter Miami jersey with Lionel Messi's number 10 remains the top-selling jersey in MLS, according to a report from the league.
Since his arrival in U.S. soccer in the summer of 2023, the Argentine superstar has led the list of the MLS’s most popular jerseys, holding the top spot in the league’s rankings released in September 2023 and June 2024.
The latest data from MLSstore.com, covering local sales from January 1 to August 31, 2024, shows that despite being sidelined for two months due to an injury, Messi continues to top the list.
In second place is his inseparable teammate at Inter Miami, Uruguayan Luis Suárez, while the third spot is occupied by Gabonese Denis Bouanga (Los Angeles FC), who was the MLS's top scorer last year.
The fourth position goes to last year’s MLS MVP, Argentine Luciano Acosta of Cincinnati. Fifth place is held by Colombian Juan Camilo "Cucho" Hernández, MLS Cup champion in 2023 and Leagues Cup champion in 2024 with Columbus Crew.
The 'top 10' list of the most sold MLS jerseys features six Hispanics: Spanish Riqui Puig of LA Galaxy (seventh) and Argentine Pedro de la Vega of Seattle Sounders (tenth) are also among the top sellers.
Inter Miami is the team most represented in this ranking. In addition to Messi and Suárez in the top two positions, the Florida-based team also has Spaniards Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba in the 11th and 15th spots, respectively.
