Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez Still Scoreless as Inter Miami Suffer First Defeat Against FC Dallas
Inter Miami continue winless in preseason after falling to FC Dallas (1-0) in a match where the Argentine and Uruguayan played together from the start.
Inter Miami remains without a victory in their preseason, as they fell to FC Dallas (1-0) on Monday in a match where Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez played together from the start for about an hour without finding the net.
This marks two preparation matches for Gerardo Martino's team in which they have yet to score a goal. Following the 0-0 draw against El Salvador, they now add this defeat in Dallas.
The effectiveness of the Colombian-American, Jesús Ferreira, proved decisive as he scored the decisive goal in the early minutes. However, he had to be substituted due to injury before halftime.
After a few days of training in Florida, Inter Miami's next stop will be Saudi Arabia to face Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, before heading to Hong Kong and Japan.
Messi and Suárez still searching for goals
Jesús Ferreira wasted no time in showing his potential, putting the first ball he touched into the net. It was the second and a half minute when the home team recovered the ball in the midfield and swiftly built up the play. With a final pass from Paul Arriola, he set up the scorer inside the box, who slotted it home to open the scoring.
The equalizer was close to coming just before halftime. A perfectly served ball by Messi found his friend Luis Suárez to strike it in the small area's front. Although the Uruguayan sent it wide, it was clear that the connection between them remained intact.
Estévez completely changed the team with six substitutions at halftime, causing some disorder after returning from the break. Not even a minute had passed when Inter Miami managed to create an opportunity on the right flank. Yedlin sent in a cross without much precision, but the ball rolled in front of the goal and ended up at Suárez's feet. Despite having no angle, Suárez tried his luck without consequences on the scoreboard.
Messi also tried from outside the box, receiving a good response from goalkeeper Maurer, who had just entered the field. Inter Miami dominated possession but failed to convert, while Dallas created some problems with high pressure that they didn't always handle clearly.
It wasn't the day for the Argentine or the Uruguayan, and after two games, neither Messi nor Suárez could open their partnership with goals. Both were substituted in the 64th minute, making way for Argentine Nico Stefanelli and Ecuadorian Leo Campana."
