David Beckham Amazed by What Lionel Messi Did on His First Day
The owner of Inter Miami revealed what happened with the Argentine star on the first day he arrived at the training ground, leaving him completely amazed.
David Beckham, the owner of Inter Miami, recently shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi in an interview with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on ESPN. Beckham expressed his admiration for Messi’s professionalism and work ethic, which he finds remarkable, especially considering Messi's legendary status and the later stage of his career.
"Leo, for me, is... I’ll take you back to the first day he arrived at the training ground," Beckham recalled. "He showed up around 6:50 AM. There was no one at the facilities except for the guy who let him in. He arrived at 6:50 AM," Beckham emphasized, clearly astonished by Messi’s commitment to his craft.
He continued, highlighting the contrast between Messi and his teammates: "The rest of the team arrived at 10:00 AM, and we didn’t train until then." Beckham paused for a moment, seemingly at a loss for words before Ferdinand asked, “What was he doing?”
“Getting ready... preparing,” Beckham responded. "He was in the gym, warming up, doing all the things you’d expect a young player to do. And he’s doing it now at his age. Given everything he has achieved in his career, you might expect him to take it easy, but he is... If I had to describe him in one word, it would be 'winner.' It’s as simple as that; he’s a winner."
Beckham further elaborated that Messi still shows frustration when his teammates don’t perform as expected or when he loses matches. “He still gets upset if his teammates don’t do the right things or if he loses games. You know, those kinds of things,” Beckham stated, illustrating Messi’s relentless drive for success.
This unwavering commitment and passion for the game is what continues to amaze Beckham, reinforcing the notion that even at the pinnacle of success, Messi remains hungry for more.
