PSG’s Invincible Challenge: Where are the banana skins?
PSG need to avoid losing any of their last four Ligue 1 matches to go down in history as the first team to go unbeaten for an entire season—but where could things go wrong?
In any other season, PSG would be cruising through these final games in Ligue 1 without a care in the world, fully focused on the Champions League. They probably would've thrown the academy kids on the pitch, maybe even the groundskeepers… literally anyone.
But this season is different. PSG aren’t just chasing their first-ever Champions League title—they’re also on the verge of an undefeated domestic season, something no one has ever done in Ligue 1. So yeah, no resting allowed. They need to be locked in, everywhere. Now, with just four league games to go, the big question is: where are the banana peels that could mess it all up?
Friday, April 25: PSG vs. Nice – live on beIN SPORTS at 2:35 PM ET
This one’s a warning sign for PSG. Nice actually beat them at the Parc des Princes last season, and this match comes just four days before a massive trip to the Emirates to take on Arsenal.
Even though they’ve had a solid season overall, Nice have been in a bit of a slump lately. They only picked up their first win in six games last weekend, and that was at home to a struggling Angers side.
Chance of defeat: 30%
Saturday, May 3: Strasbourg vs. PSG – live on beIN SPORTS at 10:50 AM ET
If PSG are going to slip, this is probably where it happens—away at Strasbourg's Stade de la Meinau. First off, the game lands right between those brutal Champions League semifinal legs against Arsenal.
And second, unlike their ownership buddies over at Chelsea, Strasbourg are having a strong season. They're in the fight for a Champions League spot and they play quick, high-energy football—exactly the kind of team that’ll test a tired PSG squad.
Chance of defeat: 60%
Matchday 33: Montpellier vs. PSG
If PSG can get through Nice and Strasbourg, the last two league games should be a breeze. Montpellier are dead last and already relegated to Ligue 2. Even if they wanted to spoil PSG's party just for fun, actually pulling it off on the pitch is another story.
Chance of defeat: 10%
Matchday 34: PSG vs. Auxerre
If the invincible run is still alive going into the final game, it’s hard to see PSG slipping here. They’ll be at home, at the Parc des Princes, facing a mid-table Auxerre side that’ll probably already be mentally chilling on a beach somewhere.
Chance of defeat: 5%
