Marco Asensio Completes Move to PSG
Marco Asensio signs with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) until June 2026, which will be managed by former Spanish national team coach Luis Enrique, after seven seasons playing for Real Madrid, from which he has been released.
PSG announced on Thursday the three-year signing of Asensio, 27, just one day after the unveiling of Luis Enrique as the new head coach.
In a statement from the French club, the former Madrid player said, 'It is a privilege to be part of this great club that is PSG.' He emphasized his eagerness to join the rest of the team and 'work with them to achieve great objectives,' with the main goal being the UEFA Champions League.
Marco Asensio developed and made his professional debut at Mallorca, his hometown team, before being transferred to Real Madrid in the summer of 2015. He was loaned to Espanyol during his first season.
Wearing the white jersey, he played 286 matches, scoring 61 goals. He won three league titles, two Super Cups, three UEFA Champions Leagues, four FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey.
Called up for the Spanish national team for the first time in May 2016, his debut as an international player was in the 2018 World Cup. Four years later, in Qatar, he scored a goal in his second World Cup. He has played 37 matches for La Roja, with a total of two goals to his name.
His signing is the second of the Luis Enrique era in Paris, announced just a few hours after the Slovakian Milan Skriniar.
