PSG vs. Brest. It still sounds fantastical to write, but this showdown is between two teams getting into gear for the new(look) Champions League campaign, which kicks off next week. 

Brest pulled off a veritable footballing miracle last season with a third-placed finish in Ligue 1. The reward for the club nestled in Normandy is a place in the new behemoth Champions League, albeit with a slightly underwhelming debut against Sturm Graz. Saturday’s match is set to be a showcase of French soccer. 

Eight out of the 13 Ligue 1 goals racked up by PSG so far this season have been scored by French players. Brest have used nine, 10 and nine French players respectively in their opening three games this season. This encounter will be like Emily in Paris but on a football pitch. And with less cliches. 

PSG are likely to be heavy favorites, firstly due to the imperious start of a side that is not missing Mbappe’s goals (or baggage) at all. PSG are also unbeaten in 25 of the past Ligue 1 games against Brest, winning 17 of them.
