(VIDEO) Folarin Balogun Scores on AS Monaco's Centenary
Folarin Balogun found the back of the net for the second time this season in Ligue 1, and this goal was extra special as it came during AS Monaco's centenary celebration. Not only did he celebrate his club, but he also continued his scoring streak, bringing his total to two goals for the season.
How did the match end?
Thanks to a late goal from Lamine Camara in the 98th minute, Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Montpellier, keeping pace with PSG at the top of Ligue 1 after Luis Enrique’s team beat Rennes earlier that Friday.
Monaco fought hard until the very end to grab these crucial three points in the title race. It was Camara who saved the day with a stunning volley after a pass from Swiss player Breel Embolo just as the game was about to finish.
Earlier in the first half, Montpellier’s Rabby Nzingoula put his team ahead with a shot from outside the box just 15 minutes in. Balogun responded in the 33rd minute with a low shot that was unstoppable for Montpellier’s goalkeeper, Dimitry Bertaud.
Desperate for a win, Monaco kept pressing the Montpellier goal, and in the 92nd minute, they took advantage of a red card shown to Tangui Coulibaly after he received two yellow cards. With an extra man during stoppage time, the principality club capitalized on their numerical advantage, and Camara's goal leveled them with PSG.
