Two Teams Compete to Sign Vitor Roque
Sporting and Betis are battling to take the Barcelona player on a new adventure in his career.
Vitor Roque could be living his last moments as a Barcelona player, as two teams are strongly interested in the Brazilian's services. So far, two clubs are leading the race to sign him: Sporting Portugal and Spain’s Betis, both of which will need to shell out the same amount Barça paid for him earlier this year.
According to the newspaper AS, Barcelona is in more advanced negotiations with Sporting, which has agreed to pay €30 million (around $32.7 million) for the player, with €20 million for the transfer and €10 million more in add-ons. This proposal doesn't completely convince the Catalans, who are asking for more certainty with the add-ons, as they want them to be easily achievable.
On the other hand, Betis is also in the mix since the 19-year-old player has caught the interest of Manuel Pellegrini to strengthen the squad. That’s why Manuel Fajardo, the sporting director, Joaquín Sánchez, a collaborator in the sports area, and Ramón Alarcón, the team’s general manager, traveled from Seville to Barcelona to meet with Deco and continue negotiations to reach an agreement.
Meanwhile, the player’s representative, who is also in Barcelona, will be supporting negotiations with both teams to find the best option for Roque so he can continue his career outside of Barça, where he has no place for the upcoming season.
With this, Barcelona is looking to sell the player a little over eight months after his arrival for a minimum of €30 million, the amount the Catalan club paid earlier this year to secure his services. So, whichever team wants the Brazilian will have to come up with that amount
