The Four Signings Planned by Real Madrid
According to AS, there are four names on the list of potential signings for Real Madrid, three of them in defense and one in attack.
Real Madrid is facing a complex situation in defense, with several key players struggling with injuries and others far from their best form. Despite the urgent need to strengthen the defensive line, the club's current stance is to not make signings, trusting in the available players and the academy, where Asencio and Jacobo Ramón stand out. However, the serious injuries to Carvajal, Militao, and the uncertain recovery of Alaba have accelerated plans for a defensive overhaul. According to AS, four potential operations are already on the table for the summer transfer window of 2025. Three of these deals focus on defense, while one targets the attack. These moves could be crucial for the club's future.
1. Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich)
The Canadian left-back has been a potential signing for Real Madrid for at least a couple of seasons. Although Bayern Munich opted to renew his contract and keep him, the fact that Davies' current deal expires in 2025 could make his departure more likely, especially if he decides not to extend his stay in Munich. His arrival would mark the return of top-tier left-backs at Madrid, a position historically dominated by Roberto Carlos and Marcelo. With Ferland Mendy renewed until 2027, Davies could be an essential addition to strengthen the defense, while Fran García might become a transfer option.
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
Although Dani Carvajal's contract has been extended until 2026, the right-back’s recent knee ligament injury has raised doubts about his immediate future. This has led Real Madrid to take a closer look at Alexander-Arnold, one of the most offensive and complete full-backs in Europe. The 26-year-old Englishman’s contract also expires in June 2025, which has sparked interest from the club. In addition to his offensive contributions, his ability to play in midfield makes him an even more attractive option. However, Madrid will have to compete with other top clubs, meaning this signing may require a significant investment.
3. Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen)
Florian Wirtz is a different case. Real Madrid is eyeing him as a potential signing to bolster their midfield. The 21-year-old German is regarded as one of the most promising midfielders in the world at the moment. After leading Bayer Leverkusen to a top spot in the Bundesliga under Xabi Alonso, Wirtz has proven his talent. With 18 goals and 20 assists last season, he is a player who can significantly impact the attack. Madrid is in talks for his transfer, though the cost, estimated at around 130 million euros, could be a challenge for the club. Additionally, if Ancelotti leaves, Xabi Alonso is a potential candidate for the Madrid managerial job, making Wirtz's move even more appealing.
4. Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)
Finally, German center-back Jonathan Tah is also on Madrid’s list of potential signings for next summer. While an immediate move is not expected, interest in the 28-year-old defender has grown, especially with the possibility of his contract expiring with Bayer Leverkusen in 2025. Standing at 1.95 meters, Tah is known for his physical presence, but he is also comfortable with the ball, which has helped him establish himself as a regular starter for the German national team. His connection with Antonio Rüdiger, his national teammate, could ease his adaptation to Madrid. Furthermore, his experience in both the Bundesliga and the national team makes him an intriguing option to reinforce the defense.
