Shakira Responds to Gerard Piqué: 'Life Took a Husband from Me...'
The separation of Gerard Piqué and Shakira continues to make headlines, and it seems far from reaching its conclusion. The latest chapter involves an interview given by the former FC Barcelona footballer to CNN, where he discussed his projects, but also touched on a personal question that made the front pages of many media outlets.
"I've always been very calm. I know the world we live in. I know that everyone likes to have an opinion and their own perspective on things. The media control a message and, in general terms, everyone says what they want to sell," Piqué explained in the interview.
"The truth, or what really happens, isn't told as it is. That's something I can't control. I've always believed that the best thing is to be surrounded by those closest to me—my family, my friends, the people who truly know you. They know who you are and what you do, and that gives me a lot of peace," the former footballer continued.
Piqué made it clear: "I’m happy, I’m having a great time, and I feel privileged. The life I've had, being able to play for the club of my dreams for over 20 years, having wonderful children, an amazing family, lifelong friends... From there, I've created things like the Kings League. We’ll see what the future holds, but for now, I’m enjoying life because, in the end, it’s short, and we need to make the most of it."
Following these controversial statements, Shakira gave an interview to GQ magazine. The Colombian singer said, "I’ve realized that friendship lasts longer than love. I didn’t know that before. Life took a husband from me, but it gave me so many friends..."
"I’ve never felt so loved, so cherished, as I have by my friends. I must have done something right in life to have so many people who care for me. There are people who have betrayed me, turned their backs on me, and torn me apart inside. People who weren’t there when I needed them the most. The healing process is long, and it’s going to take me several albums to get through it," Shakira concluded just hours after Piqué's interview with CNN.
