Samuel Eto'o's Son Makes Spanish Debut with a Goal
Etienne Eto'o, son of former Cameroonian star Samuel Eto'o, made his debut with Rayo Vallecano last Tuesday and scored his first goal in a Copa del Rey match against CD Villamuriel, which ended in a decisive 5-0 win for the Madrid team, securing their spot in the next round.
At 22 years old, Etienne stood out at CUC Villalba in the Tercera Federación before joining Rayo Majadahonda. This summer, he seized the opportunity to step up to the elite level with Rayo Vallecano, although he hadn’t yet played despite being called up for two LaLiga EA Sports matches.
Rayo's coach Íñigo Pérez saw the first round of the Copa del Rey, against the modest Regional Preferente side Villamuriel, as a chance for the Spanish-Cameroonian player.
"Etienne has been training very well, finding the net with the reserves, and his attitude is excellent," the coach explained, giving him a chance in the 76th minute.
The young player made the most of it, breaking through the local defense’s offside trap, receiving a deep pass from Joni, and confidently chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to score his first goal for the Madrid team.
