Ronald Koeman Blasts Laporta and Barcelona
Ronald Koeman takes another shot at Barcelona, claiming that Joan Laporta didn’t support him like he supports Xavi.
The current Netherlands coach, Ronald Koeman, is preparing for the Euro 2024 in Germany, starting this Friday, June 14. Meanwhile, the Dutchman has taken a jab at his former team, FC Barcelona, stating that to succeed at Barça, you need Joan Laporta’s backing.
He also mentioned that during his tenure with the Catalan club, he didn’t receive the same level of support that Xavi Hernández got during his time as head coach. “When they fired me, I think we were nine points behind Madrid. And now they finished ten points behind,” Koeman remarked.
Additionally, Koeman admitted that managing the Spanish team was the toughest challenge of his career. “I think so, because Barça is my club. I had a great spell there as a player, I have friends in the city, coaching the team was one of my lifelong dreams…that made everything more difficult and stressful,” he said.
