Ronald Araujo to Undergo Surgery
FC Barcelona's central defender, Ronald Araujo, will need surgery due to a hamstring tendon injury in his right thigh. The procedure will take place in Finland, according to the club.
Araujo underwent a series of tests upon arriving in Barcelona from the United States, where he was with his national team for the Copa América.
After the tests, the club and Araujo decided that surgical treatment is necessary. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Lasse Lempainen under the supervision of the Club's medical services in Turku, Finland. The club has not yet announced the date of the surgery or the expected recovery time.
The Finnish specialist handling the surgery has previously operated on Ousmane Dembélé, Ansu Fati, Sergi Roberto, and most recently, Alejandro Baldé. The average recovery time for such injuries is around four months.
Araujo sustained the injury on July 6 during the Copa América quarterfinals against Brazil. The decision for surgery was made to prevent the high risk of re-injury typical with this type of injury.
