Rodrygo Reveals Ancelotti's Frustration: "We Only Score in the Second Halves"
Brazilian Rodrygo Goes acknowledged that Carlo Ancelotti is "a little upset" because Real Madrid only scores in the second halves, but he highlighted the strong reaction that took place this Saturday against Espanyol, as they came from behind at the Santiago Bernabéu and ended with a comfortable win.
"Winning with this shirt is always very important and it’s our objective. It was a difficult match. The coach is a bit upset with us because we only score in the second halves. Today we conceded a goal, but we stayed calm to come back," he said on Real Madrid TV.
"We reacted quickly, but the coach, in the pre-match talk, told us we’ve been very poor in the first halves of previous games. We only scored against Mallorca in the first match of LaLiga. We had to do better in today’s first half, and we did, although we didn’t score. We managed to do it in the second," he added.
Happy to have scored Real Madrid's second goal, which turned the game around, Rodrygo thanked Vinícius Junior for a pass that resembled those of Luka Modric. "I feel great. The season is still starting and, on a personal level, I feel good physically and mentally, which is the most important thing. I’m always ready to help the team," he said.
"We have a great atmosphere. There's a lot of respect between all of us, and we share the same objective and are focused. Vini’s assist was spectacular, like Luka Modric. He’s getting better at that pass every time, and I thank him for the assist," he added.
Real Madrid reached 38 consecutive matches unbeaten in LaLiga, and Rodrygo hopes to extend the streak throughout the tournament. "It’s harder than it seems, it’s a lot of matches, but we want much more, and we aim to go the whole season without losing. We’re going to try."
