Revealed: How Much Real Madrid Pays for Endrick's Goals
The scout who discovered Endrick in Brazil revealed details about the contract the young forward signed with Real Madrid. It's not cheap.
On December 15, 2022, Real Madrid officially announced the signing of Brazilian forward Endrick from Palmeiras. The deal was reported to be around $39 million, with potential bonuses that could bring the total to $66.8 million based on performance-related objectives.
Joao Paulo Sampaio, the director of the Palmeiras youth academy and the scout who discovered Endrick, shared insights into the clauses of the forward’s contract during an appearance on the show "El Chiringuito" hosted by Josep Pedrerol. He explained that with all the bonuses and fees, the transfer could reach up to $80 million.
Performance-Based Clauses
Sampaio elaborated on the specific clauses tied to Endrick’s performance, stating, "For every five goals scored, the club will pay an additional $1.6 million. This continues until reaching a total of $66.8 million."
Furthermore, he mentioned that Endrick's first call-up to the Brazilian national team would trigger an extra $1.6 million. Interestingly, Sampaio suggested that there are no additional clauses tied to winning the Ballon d'Or, indicating the immense potential and expectations surrounding the young talent.
The Discovery of Endrick
Sampaio also recounted how he first discovered Endrick. "I receive an average of 30 videos daily via WhatsApp. One businessman named Pablo Roca sent me a video of Endrick playing in a tournament with São Paulo. Initially, the club didn’t meet the conditions requested by his parents. After watching just 30 seconds of the video, I immediately asked, 'What do you want?' It was an easy decision. We offered the father a job and provided good conditions for the mother."
Real Madrid's Involvement
Discussing how Real Madrid secured Endrick's transfer, Sampaio mentioned that the club has a scout in Brazil named Juni Calafat. He noted, "Chelsea and other teams had taken Endrick's father to London. However, when he saw the opportunity to join Real Madrid, he chose Madrid." This reflects the allure and reputation of the Spanish giants, making them a preferred destination for rising stars.
Endrick's move to Real Madrid not only showcases the club’s commitment to investing in young talent but also highlights the strategic scouting efforts that play a crucial role in securing the best players from around the globe.
