Real Madrid Left Without a Defense! Alaba Injured, Deepening the Injury Crisis
Real Madrid is facing a new injury crisis, and this time it is Austrian defender David Alaba who has been affected. The player suffered a tear in the internal meniscus of his left knee during the match on Wednesday against Getafe at the Coliseum. After undergoing several medical tests, it was confirmed that Alaba will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, further adding to the list of defensive injuries the team has endured in recent weeks.
A Series of Bad News for Ancelotti
The diagnosis of David Alaba's injury came on a difficult Tuesday for Real Madrid, who had already received a series of bad news. The club reported that the injury occurred in the first half of the match against Getafe, and although Alaba was called up for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, he did not play in the final and was replaced by Jesús Vallejo, a player who is not a regular starter in the team.
Despite returning to training with the team, Alaba's discomfort during physical tests led to a new MRI, which revealed the injury to the same knee that had been previously operated on, keeping him out of action for over a year.
Defensive Injury Crisis
With Alaba's absence, Real Madrid finds itself in a critical situation regarding its defense. Carlo Ancelotti, the team's coach, faces a significant challenge for the final five matches of LaLiga EA Sports, especially due to the accumulated injuries in his defensive line. Dani Carvajal, Éder Militão, Antonio Rüdiger, and Ferland Mendy are already out with various injuries, leaving Lucas Vázquez and Fran García as the only available defenders. Additionally, young Raúl Asencio has been promoted from Real Madrid Castilla to cover the gaps.
This situation forces Aurélien Tchouaméni to switch roles, leaving midfield to play as a central defender. The situation is far from ideal for Ancelotti, who sees his defensive options rapidly dwindling.
New Injuries and More Uncertainty
On Tuesday, Real Madrid also announced that Antonio Rüdiger had undergone surgery for a partial tear in the external meniscus of his left leg, and Ferland Mendy had suffered a tear in the proximal tendon of his right quadriceps. With these new injuries, the team's defensive outlook becomes even more complicated, and Carlo Ancelotti will have to juggle to ensure that his team does not lose ground in the battle for LaLiga and other titles.
With so many key players out of action, Real Madrid will face several challenges in the coming weeks, where they will depend on their remaining options and their ability to adapt to the circumstances.
