Real Madrid Drop Points Against Rayo Vallecano
Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, admitted to feeling "disappointed" by the drawn match against Rayo Vallecano, but he also suggested that it "could be positive in the future." He didn't place blame on his players, acknowledging that "it's very difficult" this season.
"We played with intensity, but the truth is that Rayo played a very good game, with a lot of intensity. They tried to disrupt the game, and their plan worked well. We leave with a point that doesn't make us happy today, but it could be positive in the future," he assessed in the press conference.
In his analysis of the match, the Real Madrid coach admitted the two sides of his team: the good start and a worse period when they failed to adapt to Rayo's tactics.
"We started very well, scored a goal, and could have scored another one that was disallowed, and then there was Fede's shot hitting the post. Until the penalty, we did everything very well, but the game changed after the penalty. It became more of a battle, with interruptions. It wasn't easy, but we fought for a draw that doesn't make us happy, but we are in a good position. We need to stay calm and prepare for the next game," he stated.
"We need to win all the games, but to win a league, the ones you can't win, you shouldn't lose. These are draws that hurt a bit, but in the end, it could be a positive step towards winning LaLiga," he added.
He also acknowledged that he would discuss with his players the issue of the yellow cards for dissent that will prevent Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Carvajal from playing against Sevilla. "It's something I'll talk about personally with the players. It was a match with many duels and battles, so we can understand the protests a bit."
"After the draw, it was a different game that we don't like to play, with many duels, battles, interruptions. We have to accept it because sometimes games are like that. The important thing is that we competed," he concluded.
