Modric: "There Will Never Be Another Toni Kroos"
Luka Modric lamented the announcement of Toni Kroos's retirement, with whom he formed a legendary partnership in the history of Real Madrid, and confessed to feeling "very sad" about the farewell of "a legend". He assured that he would never forget the "golden era" they shared at the white club.
"Dear Toni, it's difficult for me to write these words. The football world is sad because a historic footballer is leaving, and I must admit that I am also very sad. Friend, you are a legend of this sport and a legend of Real Madrid," Modric began his emotional message on social media.
"I have really enjoyed playing alongside you. Truly, it has been an honor to share the midfield of Real Madrid with you. You have qualities that make you a unique and special footballer, and there will never be another Toni Kroos," he added.
Alongside images of their ten years together at Real Madrid, of their camaraderie, and the trophies they won such as the Champions League, LaLiga, or the Club World Cup, Modric set one last challenge together.
"Unforgettable European nights, titles, the magic of the Bernabéu… we will never forget this golden era at the club of our lives. You have achieved everything, but there is still one more. Together, let's go for the 15th. I will miss you, my friend," he concluded.
Kroos responded to Modric's post with much affection. "So many memories… wow. This love will last forever, my friend!" he assured in a thread of responses joined by Vinicius: "The best!!!".
