Lamine Yamal's Reaction After Father's Stabbing
Barcelona's young star had a big scare. He was able to speak with his father by phone, though he didn’t go to the hospital. On Thursday, he trained as usual.
Barcelona's Lamine Yamal trained on Thursday at the Joan Gamper sports city in preparation for the team's debut in Valencia. He was supported by teammates, coaching staff, and club members, just hours after his father, Mounir Nasraoui, was stabbed on Wednesday evening in Mataró (Barcelona).
After the news broke, Yamal's family went to Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in Badalona to check on Nasraoui's condition. The player himself did not go, likely to avoid a media frenzy.
Representing the club, Alejandro Echevarría, former brother-in-law of President Joan Laporta and a trusted figure, accompanied the family at the hospital and kept Yamal updated on his father's condition.
Later, Yamal was able to speak with his father by phone to get first-hand information on his condition.
Four people have been arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra for their alleged involvement in the stabbing. Mounir Nasraoui remains hospitalized with various injuries, though his life is not in danger.
The three detainees are currently in the custody of the Mossos d'Esquadra in Mataró, awaiting a court appearance.
The Can Ruti hospital has not yet provided a medical update on Nasraoui, who reportedly suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen.
