LaLiga Files Complaint Against Real Madrid Over Controversial Letter on Officiating
Last Thursday, LaLiga President Javier Tebas confirmed that he would take action against Real Madrid following the club’s statement questioning the impartiality of the competition.
Tebas made the announcement after a meeting with the RFEF and CTA, attended by all clubs except Madrid. During his remarks, the LaLiga chief stated that someone "has lost their mind," a clear reference to Real Madrid’s stance.
Real Madrid Accuses the Officiating System
The dispute stems from a document sent by Real Madrid to the RFEF and CSD, in which the club claimed that the "Spanish officiating system is completely biased" and "structurally designed to protect itself," with backing from Disciplinary Committees under the Federation.
In the statement, Madrid further argued that the system is "maintained and protected by the Federation itself," describing it as a "web of conflicting interests" where referees have shifted from being a neutral technical body to a political player with significant influence in federation elections.
LaLiga Moves Forward with Legal Action
According to Mundo Deportivo, LaLiga has already filed the complaint with the RFEF Disciplinary Committee and is considering additional legal measures.
Reports from Spanish media indicate that once the complaint is received, Real Madrid will be asked to submit allegations, initiating an investigation. If a case is formally opened, it could lead to sanctions against the club.
