Joao Félix Speaks About His Future: "I Love Barça"
The Portuguese forward indicated that he wants to stay at the Blaugrana club because it is "the club of his childhood."
Barcelona forward Joao Félix stated on the Nude Project podcast that he would love to stay at the Catalan club because it is "the club of his childhood." However, the winger mentioned that "it's not up to him" since he is on loan from Atlético Madrid.
Félix, 24, joined the Catalan side in 2023 on loan from Atlético Madrid after failing to fit into Diego "El Cholo" Simeone's plans. Before his arrival at Barça, the Viseu, Portugal native played for Chelsea.
HIS FUTURE AT BARÇA
After arriving in Barcelona on September 1, 2023, Félix adapted to Xavi Hernández's system, being used in 44 matches throughout the season and scoring 10 goals with six assists. The Portuguese winger says he feels comfortable and "would love" to stay at the club; however, he emphasizes that "it's not up to him."
"It's always been the club of my childhood, and I want to stay, but it's not up to me (...) There could be movements. I'm on loan, but it doesn't depend on me. I've said that I love Barça; it's always been the club of my childhood, and I want to stay, but it doesn't depend on me; it depends on many other things. And we'll see what can happen," he reiterated on the Nude Project podcast, recalling that the loan agreement between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona for his registration expires on June 30.
Furthermore, regarding Barcelona, he mentioned that the team "has not had much luck" with titles and that if he stays, he will do his utmost to "help" the team's performance.
"We haven't had much luck. It hasn't been a great season because in the end, we didn't win anything, although we were close. Maybe next year, if I stay, we need to win something at least," he commented.
FUTURE BALLON D'OR WINNER
Joao Félix confidently mentioned that he feels capable of winning one of the top individual awards: the Ballon d'Or. He expressed his conviction that he can improve his performance and that he has much ahead of him.
"Everyone dreams of winning it (the Ballon d'Or). I think I have the qualities to win it. I'm not going to lie. Of course, some things need to improve. Many things have to happen. I'm 24 years old. You have to work hard and believe in it," he said.
