Hansi Flick and His Offensive Style Arrive in Barcelona
The German Hansi Flick, the new coach of Barcelona, says that his playbook is all about ball possession and offensive football, two things he loves and will work on bringing to the Catalan team.
In statements to the club’s official media, Flick thanked "everyone involved" in his hiring, a commitment signed for the next two seasons, until June 2026.
"It’s an honor and a dream to sign a contract as the coach of FC Barcelona, to work for this club, for this great club," the coach emphasized, adding that he is "eager to start working for this incredible club."
"Since I arrived, I’ve seen that everyone loves this club and does everything possible for its success," said Flick, who arrived in Barcelona and quickly signed his contract after the club settled the departure of the previous coach, Xavi Hernández.
Flick also mentioned the potential of Barcelona's young players and stressed that the club has "one of the best youth academies in the world," and added that the first team has "a good mix of experienced players and talented young ones."
The new Barça coach has set his sights on "working to improve," something he plans to do hand in hand with the technical director, Anderson de Souza, Deco, and president Joan Laporta.
"For me, it’s important to work as a team. We have to work together on this. We need to focus on this task and I’m happy to do it with these people," he said.
The German coach showed ambition in this new phase. He recalled that he won "a few titles" with Bayern Munich and would like to continue on this path with Barcelona.
