Good news with Ronald Araújo at Barcelona
Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo, who tore the tendon of the hamstring muscle in his right thigh while playing for Uruguay in the last Copa América, is making great strides in his recovery and is close to rejoining the group.
In a video shared by Barça on social media, Araújo can be seen on the pitch at the Joan Gamper Training Center, fine-tuning his return to action.
The Uruguayan defender, who underwent surgery in Finland on July 22, is now able to sprint, change pace, and has also started working with the ball, meaning he will soon begin participating in some training sessions with his teammates.
Next week will mark four months since his initial recovery timeline was announced—a piece of great news for Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, who has so far had to rely on Pau Cubarsí and Íñigo Martínez in central defense due to injuries to Araújo, Andreas Christensen, and Eric García.
