Barcelona Takes the Catalan Derby with a Dani Olmo Double
Barcelona extended their winning streak in La Liga to four games with a 3-1 victory in the Catalan derby against Espanyol. Dani Olmo scored twice with a classy assist from Lamine Yamal, while Raphinha added another goal.
Olmo opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finding a gap through Espanyol’s defense and curling the ball into the top corner after a slick three-finger assist from Yamal.
Barcelona’s second goal came courtesy of Raphinha, who has now scored in three consecutive matches. In the 23rd minute, he capitalized on a great pass from Marc Casado, slipping it in to make it 2-0.
Olmo’s second came in the 31st minute with a rocket from outside the box that left Espanyol’s keeper, Joan García, helpless. That blast secured his brace and stretched Barcelona's lead to 3-0.
In the second half, Barça eased up, allowing Espanyol a consolation goal in the 64th minute from Puado, making it 3-1. With this win, Barcelona stays at the top of La Liga with 33 points, nine clear of Real Madrid in second. Espanyol, meanwhile, slips to 17th, just one point away from the relegation zone.
