Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has renewed his contract with the club on Thursday, extending it by two more seasons until June 30, 2029, with a release clause set at approximately $532 million, as announced by the club.
The 21-year-old midfielder signed his new contract in a ceremony attended by club president Joan Laporta, sporting vice president Rafa Yuste, the executive responsible for youth football, Joan Soler, and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza, known as 'Deco'.
Born in El Campillo (Huelva), López joined La Masia at the cadet level from Betis, progressing through all the youth ranks at Barcelona. After spending the 2022-2023 season on loan at Linares in the Primera RFEF, he established himself as an important player in the first team last season.
Fermín made his official debut on August 27, 2023, in a victory against Villarreal in LaLiga EA Sports. Since then, he has recorded eleven goals and two assists in 48 appearances for Barcelona's first team.
The Huelva-born player, who is a full international for Spain, played a key role in winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics last summer.
