Barcelona Extends Contract of Their Latest Gem: $557 Million Release Clause!
Barcelona and Marc Bernal have reached an agreement on improving the midfielder's contract, which ties him to the Catalan club until June 30, 2026.
Barcelona and Marc Bernal have reached an agreement to improve the midfielder's contract, which now ties him to the Catalan club until June 30, 2026, when his youth career ends, with an option for three additional years.
The contract also includes a release clause of 500 million euros ($557 million dollars).
At 17, Bernal had been the standout sensation for the Blaugrana at the start of the season until he suffered a severe knee injury.
Last season, in his first year as a youth player, he was a key piece for Barça Atlètic under Rafa Márquez. After an impressive preseason last summer, he convinced Hansi Flick that he deserved a chance in the first team.
Despite the serious knee injury he sustained in the LaLiga match against Rayo Vallecano on August 27 in Vallecas, the Catalan club has shown its faith in the young academy player, considering him a crucial part of their future.
