Barcelona Define The Future of Several Players
Barcelona announced that defender Marcos Alonso, signed in 2022 from Chelsea, will not continue at the club next season after his contract expires on June 30.
In his two seasons as a Barça player, the Madrid-born full-back, who will turn 34 in December, played 45 official matches, scoring three goals, and contributed to the La Liga title won in the 2022-2023 season under coach Xavi Hernández.
Initially, Barcelona also announced that defender Joao Cancelo and forward Joao Félix would not continue with the team next season, but minutes later, they deleted these messages from both social media and their website.
The two Portuguese players played for the Blaugrana last season on loan from Manchester City and Atlético Madrid, respectively, and their loan periods officially ended this Sunday.
Joao Félix scored ten goals in 44 matches wearing the Barça shirt, while Joao Cancelo netted four goals in 42 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
