Ancelotti on Ter Stegen's Injury: "It Makes Me Very Sad"
The Real Madrid coach expressed solidarity with Barcelona's German goalkeeper after his serious knee injury was confirmed.
The Italian coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, expressed his deep sadness over the injury suffered by Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who has a complete rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee sustained against Villarreal. Ancelotti wished him a swift recovery.
Following the unfortunate incident, Ancelotti joined Thibaut Courtois in showing solidarity with the situation faced by Ter Stegen, one of Barcelona's most important players, and sent a message of encouragement.
"It makes me very sad when important players get injured, like Ter Stegen yesterday, and I hope he recovers quickly because he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. I wish for his recovery to be as fast as possible," Ancelotti stated at a press conference.
Ancelotti noted that the high number of significant injuries occurring at the start of the season is linked to the overwhelming number of matches that international players from each club are facing.
"For now, we can't do much because the calendar isn't going to change this season, but the football world needs to reflect on this," he urged.
