Ancelotti is Already Preparing for The Champions League Final
After Carlo Ancelotti granted three days off to his players last week, the Real Madrid starters are already gearing up for the Champions League final on June 1 against Borussia Dortmund, with a prior league match against Real Betis serving as a dress rehearsal for the Wembley showdown.
Without David Alaba and Aurélien Tchouaméni, who have slim chances of making it in time for the Champions League final due to a stress injury in the left foot since the semifinals, and with those who played on Sunday in Villarreal at a different pace, the Real Madrid squad completed training at the Valdebebas sports city.
Ancelotti led the training session for the group of players who will start in the last two matches of the season, on Saturday against Betis at the Santiago Bernabéu, and a week later in London.
The session began with strength work in the gym for the entire squad before the group split. The players who played and drew against Villarreal had a recovery session, while the rest worked on the field. They did pressure and possession exercises, as well as small-sided games, as reported by the club on its website.
Ancelotti is already preparing the details for the Champions League final, where Real Madrid will seek their fifteenth European title. After Thibaut Courtois showed a good level as a substitute in Villarreal and will return to the starting lineup in the last LaLiga match, the Belgian will start in goal, and the rest of the starting lineup is defined for the Italian coach.
