Ancelotti Admits Real Madrid Will Consider the Transfer Market
For now, Ancelotti confirmed that Castilla central defender Raúl Asencio will remain with the first team following his impressive debut against Osasuna.
Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s head coach, stated that although the management initially ruled out winter reinforcements, the team’s current injury crisis, especially in defense, is prompting them to reconsider possible signings in the coming months. Against Osasuna, the team’s defensive issues worsened with Éder Militao and Lucas Vázquez joining Dani Carvajal and David Alaba on the injury list.
“I don’t know yet; we’ll evaluate it in the coming months. Right now, there’s nothing to do but try to recover as many players as possible, and then we’ll see what can be done in January,” Ancelotti said in a press conference.
“Raúl played very well, with a lot of personality. He assisted the second goal, which was a pleasant surprise, and we have to appreciate the work done with him in the youth academy, especially Raúl (González), who has prepared him well for a moment when we really need him,” he acknowledged.
“At the moment, I’m not thinking about the transfer market. Until the Christmas break, we have games to prepare with the players we have. Today, Valverde played as a right back, which I thought worked well, and Raúl made an important contribution to the team. This is what we have, and as we managed well last year, we’ll do the same this year,” he added.
Ancelotti expressed regret over the first half against Osasuna, which saw injuries to Rodrygo Goes, Éder Militao, and Lucas Vázquez. He attributed the strain to the crowded schedule and high game load his players are facing.
“Three injuries in the first half is quite unusual. The demands of this schedule, which often don’t allow players to rest, mean they arrive at games less fresh than usual, increasing the risk of injuries. This is a general issue, not just ours,” he concluded.
