(VIDEO) Lewandowski Keeps Barcelona on a Perfect Track
A lone goal from Robert Lewandowski in the 19th minute secured Barcelona’s seventh win in seven matches, this time against Getafe, who are now twelve games without a win (and still haven’t won this season) and haven’t scored against Barça in six straight games.
Barça, who will remain at the top of LaLiga for another week, definitely deserved more. However, they only managed to break through Getafe’s wall once. Getafe, known for their usual aggressive style, focused purely on defending and barely troubled Iñaki Peña, who had a quiet debut as a starter, filling in for the injured Ter Stegen.
The score changed just once in the 19th minute due to a mistake by Soria, who failed to catch a cross from Kounde on the right, leaving the ball right at Lewandowski’s feet in the six-yard box, and the Polish striker made no mistake, scoring the 1-0.
Lewandowski had another chance to score, but this time Soria managed to block his shot. Barça was all over Getafe after losing possession, and the visitors, struggling to breathe, tried to slow the game down every chance they got.
Getafe, with more energy than precision, hovered around Barça's box and even had a chance to equalize in added time. But Mayoral missed an open shot from a Domingos cross, squandering a goal that wouldn’t have reflected how much better Barça played tonight.
