(VIDEO) Carlo Ancelotti returns to Madrid after meeting with Brazil – is he about to sign?
Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, currently in charge of Real Madrid, is reportedly close to a deal to coach the Brazilian national team starting this June, according to Brazilian sports outlet ‘Ge’, part of the Globo network.
Contract with the CBF almost done
Apparently, the contract is close to being signed. Spanish outlet “El Chiringuito” shared a video showing Ancelotti back in Madrid after a trip to London, where he reportedly met with people from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to finalize the deal.
The CBF wants Ancelotti on the sidelines for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers on June 4 and 9, against Ecuador and Paraguay. According to ‘Ge’, Ancelotti would earn €10 million per year—about the same as what he currently makes at Real Madrid.
Brazil chasing some coaching stability
The CBF has declined to comment on the reports. If the deal goes through, Ancelotti would become the fourth foreigner ever to coach the five-time World Cup champs, and the first since 1965. CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has been chasing Ancelotti since Tite stepped down after the 2022 World Cup.
Since then, Brazil has struggled to find consistency on the bench and has been on a poor run of form. The latest blow was a 4–1 loss to Argentina, which ended Dorival Júnior’s tenure. Right now, Brazil sits fourth in the South American qualifying standings, six points clear of Venezuela, who are currently outside the automatic qualification spots for the 2026 World Cup.
