Flick Confirms Raphinha & Cubarsí’s Return for Copa del Rey Clash
FC Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has confirmed that winger Raphael Dias ‘Raphinha’ and young center-back Pau Cubarsí are "ready" for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semifinal second leg against Atlético Madrid.
The Brazilian international trained on Tuesday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper after missing Barça’s last two games for rest, while the Catalan defender played the final ten minutes in last Sunday’s LaLiga EA Sports win over Girona (4-1).
A Season-Defining Battle vs. Atlético
Flick acknowledged that this will be the fourth meeting between Barça and Atlético this season, but he expects a completely different game given the 4-4 draw in the first leg at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. "What we’ve done so far is fantastic. We won the Supercopa, but that’s in the past now. Everyone is happy with our playing style and the players’ improvement, but we are at a crucial moment. I firmly believe we can do it," said the German coach.
Respect for the Opposition
Flick praised Atlético Madrid’s quality, highlighting their "fantastic coach and experienced squad". He also admired their intensity: "I love how they play—fast, aggressive, and relentless. They fight until the last second, so it will be a tough match."
Despite having less recovery time than their rivals, Flick downplayed the impact, stating that he hasn’t thought about extra time or penalties. "We have to focus on the 90 minutes. If we need 120 or penalties, we’ll be ready."
