United States Most Painful Exit in History
The USMNT suffered one of the most painful eliminations in its history.
The USMNT was eliminated from the Copa América by the powerful Uruguay team, one of the favorites to win the tournament. This marks one of the most painful eliminations in US soccer history.
For the first time ever, the USMNT failed to advance after winning their opening group stage match, having previously advanced all 23 times they won their first group-stage match.
As hosts of the tournament, the team led by coach Gregg Berhalter faced a huge disappointment in front of their fans, finishing third in Group C with three points, one win, and two losses.
