Is Brazil Afraid of Colombia in the 2024 Copa América?
Brazil's coach, Dorival Júnior, is already looking ahead to the next Copa América match against Colombia, admitting that it's a team that "has caught the continent's attention" and "is growing in a formidable way."
"They've shown important results" and "have great players," the Brazilian coach said about the Colombian team during a press conference after their 4-1 win over Paraguay in Las Vegas.
Dorival also highlighted the "great" evolution of Colombia under Néstor Lorenzo, who he believes "is growing in a formidable way" and is currently on a 25-match unbeaten streak.
"Brazil will play at a very high level and better than these first two games, playing with more authority," he promised.
When asked about the main favorites of the competition, he pointed to Argentina, a team that deserves "a lot of respect and attention"; Colombia and Uruguay, which have "strong" youth development programs and have been renewing their teams in recent years.
In his opinion, "it's a reality" that Brazil is not the favorite to win the tournament right now, which is being held in the United States until July 14, but they will be in the future as the new generation gains experience.
