Endrick Not Seeking Starting Role with Brazil
Endrick, one of Brazil’s brightest young prospects at just 17 years old, stated that he doesn’t need to "rush things" and is patiently waiting for his moment to be a starter with the Canarinha.
The player, who has scored three goals in five appearances for the Brazilian national team, all coming off the bench, mentioned that he wants to play in any position but clarified that the decision is up to the coach, Dorival Júnior.
"No one needs to rush things. I stay on the sidelines, working hard in training, contributing, playing with my teammates. I’m waiting for God’s timing and the timing of coach Dorival," Endrick said at a press conference in Los Angeles, three days before Brazil’s debut in the Copa América in the United States.
Endrick noted that Dorival Júnior doesn’t think about the benefit of one player over another but about the good of the team. He emphasized that "no one is the main actor" in the Canarinha and "no one is above Brazil." Brazil will debut in the Copa América next Monday against Costa Rica in Los Angeles and will then face Paraguay and Colombia in Group D.
