(VIDEO) Referee Faints During Copa America Match
During the final stretch of the first half of the match between Peru and Canada, an unusual incident occurred: the medical staff had to immediately attend to someone on the field. It wasn't a player, but a referee.
Humberto Panjoj, assistant referee of the match, was the person who fainted around the 48th minute, and everyone noticed when Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau alerted the medical staff to attend to the referee.
One likely cause of this incident was the temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, with a heat index of over 38 degrees Celsius, during which the match was being played. Undoubtedly, one of the most striking images so far of the 2024 Copa America.
