Soccer Player Suspended for Falsifying Age: Claimed to be 24 but was 30!
The Disciplinary Commission (DC) of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has suspended Alexander Bolaños for three years for falsifying identity documents. His club, Independiente del Valle, terminated his contract.
After investigations, the DC discovered that Bolaños is registered in the Ecuadorian Civil Registry as Jancer Romario Bolaños Caiserra. He used his younger brother's name to falsify his identity document, reducing his age from 30 to 24 years, reported the digital portal "Primicias."
In a statement, Independiente del Valle announced, "We have terminated the contract with Alexander Bolaños for falsifying documents, as the governing body of Ecuadorian football (FEF) has verified and sanctioned the player."
The Disciplinary Commission, based on article 220 of the Disciplinary Code, resolved: "to declare him the direct author of the cited infraction and impose a three-year suspension from any activity or function related to football," detailed the portal.
The case came to light through a Uruguayan radio station in early April during the Copa Libertadores group stage match between Liverpool (Uruguay) and Independiente del Valle (Ecuador). Genaro Huacón, a supposed representative of the real Jancer Romario, publicly exposed the identity falsification of the Independiente del Valle player.
Huacón is currently in prison in Ecuador for other extortion-related charges and has also been reported to Ecuadorian justice by Alexander Bolaños and Independiente del Valle's officials.
The resolution indicates that the "sanction must be communicated to the FEF's COMET department so that, based on this sanction, Alexander David Bolaños Casierra is removed from the registration system, and during the three-year suspension, Jancer Romario Bolaños Caiserra cannot be registered with the FEF."
Following Huacón's statements to the Uruguayan radio station, Independiente officials requested an investigation by the FEF and had already separated the offending player, born in 1994, from the first team.
