Shocking Fact that Makes Boca Juniors Tremble Ahead of Facing Independiente Del Valle
The second leg of the Copa Sudamericana 2024 playoffs is about to start, and the most anticipated match is undoubtedly the one between Boca Juniors and Independiente Del Valle.
In the first leg played at the Estadio Banco Guayaquil in Ecuador, the match ended 0-0, leaving everything to be decided at "La Bombonera," the home of the Xeneizes.
Diego Martínez's team struggled significantly in the first part of this battle, as they were unable to field several players due to injuries or the club's failure to register their reinforcements for the competition.
However, it won't be player absences that will be Boca's main enemy in this tie, but rather history itself. The Argentine club has never been able to defeat the Ecuadorian team.
The two teams have faced each other three times, and on none of these occasions did Boca manage to secure a victory.
The first two encounters took place in the semifinals of the 2016 Copa Libertadores. In the first leg, Independiente Del Valle defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 at "La Bombonera." They then secured another 2-1 victory in the return leg at home.
The third match between the two was the 0-0 draw in the first leg of the 2024 Sudamericana playoffs. With these statistics and the absences of players like Gary Medel, Kevin Zenón (at Paris 2024), and Ezequiel Hernández, Boca Juniors will seek to avoid disappointment at home with their fans.
