LDU Quito Survive at Always Ready's Home!
LDU Quito lost 3-1 to Always Ready but survived the 4,090 meters above sea level at Estadio El Alto, advancing with a 4-3 aggregate score, and will face Lanús in the Round of 16 of the Copa Conmebol Sudamericana.
The Ecuadorian club endured a first half full of intensity from the hosts, who scored the first goal just 1 minute into the game through Adalid Terrazas, shaking LDU Quito’s aspirations as they struggled to resist and consume valuable time to maintain their advantage.
In the second half, the scenario changed. LDU Quito grew stronger on the field, and it wasn’t until the 50th minute that Lisandro Alzugaray scored the equalizer, extending their aggregate lead to 4-1 and dampening the Bolivians' momentum, who appeared very disorganized after this action.
However, two more goals from Always Ready gave the Bolivians hope, with goals coming in the 84th minute by José Martínez and another in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, they weren’t enough to overturn the aggregate score.
With this result, LDU Quito, the reigning champions of the tournament, will face Lanús in the Round of 16 of the 2024 Copa Sudamericana.
