Botafogo staged an incredible 2-1 comeback against Palmeiras in an intense match, where both clubs were looking to gain the upper hand in the first leg of the 2024 Copa Conmebol Libertadores Round of 16.

The first half of the match was marked by parity, where small details made the difference. First, with a great goal from Luiz Henrique André in the 22nd minute, followed by Maurício Malhaes’ equalizer in the 33rd minute. However, Botafogo, favored due to their excellent current form, managed to take the lead with an extraordinary goal from Igor Maciel, who fought until the end to score in the 39th minute, thus closing a great first half.

In the second half, neither team could find the net, despite constant attempts to reach the opponent’s goal.

With this result, Botafogo will head to Palmeiras' home with the advantage, aiming to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Copa Conmebol Libertadores.
