Endrick Breaks Down in Tears in His Last Match Before Joining Real Madrid
Palmeiras fans unveiled a tifo before the Copa Libertadores match against San Lorenzo, at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, to bid farewell to Endrick. The young star was moved to tears in his final match with the Brazilian team before heading to Real Madrid.
"Até Logo (See you later)" read the green letters on a white background with Endrick's image in the middle, over the emblem of the São Paulo club.
Meanwhile, the rest of the fans waved white flags in honor of the 17-year-old striker. Endrick walked out of the tunnel with a serious, focused expression but broke down in tears during the pre-match handshakes. Before the kickoff, he shyly greeted his fans as a sign of gratitude.
The match against San Lorenzo de Almagro, which was the final game of Group F in the Copa Libertadores, was Endrick's last appearance in a Palmeiras jersey. He has been with the club since he was a child.
Endrick will then travel to the United States to join the Brazilian national team for the Copa América, scheduled to take place from June 20 to July 14.
In July, he'll head to Madrid to start the preseason with Real Madrid, where he'll join his fellow Brazilians Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo Goes, and Éder Militão.
Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa is seen as the biggest revelation in Brazilian football since Neymar. A left-footed player with remarkable lower body strength for his age, the forward has broken all records for precociousness, goal-scoring, and titles in Palmeiras' youth ranks.
He debuted with Palmeiras' first team in 2022, helping them win the Brazilian Championship that year. He repeated the feat in 2023, scoring crucial goals in the final stretch of the competition.
This year, he has been a key starter for Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira and has made a strong impression in the Copa Libertadores group stage.
