Colo Colo ties with River Plate in the Libertadores Quarterfinals
Colo Colo managed to pull off a 1-1 draw at home against River Plate in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores Quarterfinals. Carlos Palacios scored for the Chileans, while World Cup champion Germán Pezzella netted one for the Argentinians.
The first half was a hard-fought battle until the 43rd minute when Pezzella, who had recently rejoined River Plate, scored a stunning volley, marking his first goal in this year’s Libertadores.
In the second half, Colo Colo went all-out like a freight train, pushing forward with everything they had. Their efforts paid off in the 61st minute when "La Joya" Carlos Palacios found the back of the net, securing the equalizer in front of their home crowd.
Now, River Plate will look to seal the deal back at the Monumental in the second leg, aiming for a win to move on to the next round of the Libertadores. Meanwhile, Colo Colo will be hoping to silence the Monumental and keep their dream of glory alive.
