Atlético Mineiro took down River Plate in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores Semifinals, thanks to their star striker, Deyverson, who was named MVP after scoring twice and providing an assist.

Deyverson has been the key player for “Galo” in this year’s Libertadores, already racking up four goals, all in the tournament's knockout stages against tough opponents.

His four goals have come in the form of two braces. The first one came in the Libertadores Quarterfinals against defending champions Fluminense, which helped turn the aggregate score around and send Mineiro to the semis.

The second brace happened in the Semifinals against Argentine giants River Plate. Deyverson showed why he’s the team’s star, scoring twice at home first in the 22nd minute, then again in the 70th minute. But he didn’t stop there! Just four minutes later, in the 74th minute, he assisted Paulinho to seal the 3-0 win over River.
