Brother of Bellingham Wins Young Player of the Year Award in England
Jobe Bellingham, player for Sunderland and brother of Jude Bellingham, has been named the best young player of the season in the Championship (England’s second division) at the English Football League (EFL) awards. The younger Bellingham, just 19 years old, earned the honor after playing 39 matches, scoring four goals, and providing seven assists with Sunderland this season.
Sunderland Dreaming of the Premier League
With just one game left in the season, Sunderland sits in fourth place and has already locked in a spot in the promotion playoffs, where they’ll fight for a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017. Bellingham’s performances have been key in keeping the club’s dream of getting back to the top flight alive.
"I'm buzzing to have picked up this award. It's been a great season and I’m just trying to learn from my teammates and give my best. I’ve learned a lot from the coach (Régis Le Bris), who's brought a lot of structure to the team. I’ve also improved physically, which has really helped me grow," said Jobe Bellingham when he accepted the award.
A Dream Within Reach
The young midfielder also spoke about the exciting challenges ahead: "It's amazing to play for such a big club like Sunderland. Hopefully, we can finish the season the way it deserves to be finished. Playing in the Premier League, especially with this team, would be a huge motivation."
