Is This Bayern Munich Better Than Guardiola's? Kroos Responds to Matthäus
Lothar Matthäus recently claimed that Kompany's Bayern is playing even better than Pep Guardiola's, but Toni Kroos urged caution.
Former German footballer Toni Kroos has responded to Lothar Matthäus' recent comments, in which the Bayern Munich legend claimed that Vincent Kompany's current Bayern side is "even better" than Pep Guardiola's. Kroos advised caution, noting that it’s still early in the season to compare or say it "reminds us of Guardiola’s football" or "looks better in some aspects."
In his weekly podcast with his brother Felix, Einfach mal Luppen, the former Bayern player, who played under Guardiola for one season, emphasized that it’s still "early October."
"Things are going crazy again. The season has only been going for four weeks. This builds up hype for a big fall, so that by the end of October, after two bad games, people will say it wasn’t as great as it seemed," the retired midfielder stated.
Lothar Matthäus, the Bayern Munich legend, recently wrote in his column for Sky Sport that his former team was "playing even better than with Pep Guardiola" under Kompany, adding that the Belgian "embodies the style of some of the greatest coaches" in the club's history and that the football Bayern has showcased early in the season is "the most attractive ever seen at Bayern."
