Does Bayern Want Wirtz? Here’s What Rudi Völler Says
The sporting director of the German Football Association, Rudi Völler, commented on the future of Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking midfielder, Florian Wirtz, saying, “it’s no secret that Bayern Munich wants him.”
In an interview with the German channel *Welt TV*, the legendary striker of the "Aspirin club," among others, noted that "in the coming months, it will remain an issue if the boy decides to leave at some point." However, he added that his "feeling is that Leverkusen will try to convince him to stay one more year, until the 2026 World Cup."
Völler speculated that, aside from Bayern, “there will also be two or three other clubs in the race” for the player.
Florian Wirtz has a market value of around 141 million dollars, according to the *Transfermarkt* portal, and is one of the leaders of Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, with whom he is under contract until 2027.
He is also one of the standout players in Julian Nagelsmann's new German national team, where he has taken on a bigger role following the post-Euro cycle.
