Bayern Munich Spends $54 Million on Latest Signing
The Bavarian club announced the signing of Portuguese midfielder Joao Palinha. He arrives from Fulham and has signed until 2028.
Bayern Munich has officially signed Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha from English club Fulham.
The midfielder, who joins the German club after competing in the European Championship in Germany with his national team, has signed with Bayern until 2028. According to German media, the cost of the transfer is around 50 million euros (54.2 million dollars).
At his presentation with Bayern, the Portuguese international stated that "it is one of the happiest days" of his life and that playing "for one of the absolute top clubs in Europe is a dream come true," something he feels "very proud of."
"I'm looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere and the fans at the Allianz Arena. I want to celebrate success with Bayern and win titles, and I will give my all to achieve that," he emphasized.
The club's CEO, Max Eberl, mentioned during the event that "Palhinha was highly valued by Bayern last summer" and that the Portuguese player "was very eager to join FC Bayern."
"He is an important cornerstone for our future. He has once again proven his worth in the European Championship and brings a lot of experience," Eberl remarked.
João Palhinha joins the Bavarian squad after playing the last two seasons in the Premier League with Fulham, where he made 79 official appearances and scored eight goals. With the Portugal national team, he has participated in 31 matches and has been part of the squad for one World Cup and two European Championships, including the recent one in Germany.
