Bayern Munich Has New Head Coach
The German club has introduced Vincent Kompany as their new coach after paying a financial compensation to Burnley.
The Belgian Vincent Kompany has been announced as the new head coach of Bayern Munich, as officially confirmed by the German club this afternoon.
The new coach, who replaces Thomas Tuchel, has signed a contract with the Munich entity until 2027. He takes on the role after managerial stints at Anderlecht and Burnley, with the latter having just been relegated to the English second division.
For this acquisition, Bayern will have to pay the English club a compensation of €10.5 million, according to various German media outlets, as Kompany was under contract with Burnley until 2025.
The presentation event was held with the presence of the club's CEO, Jan-Christian Dressen, the technical secretary, Max Eberl, and the sporting director, Christoph Freund.
Farewell to Burnley
The Belgian coach reached an agreement with the 'Clarets' to terminate his contract. According to the English club, they understand "the appeal and prestige" of Bayern Munich and respect Kompany's "ambition" to explore new opportunities.
Kompany spent two years at Burnley, leading them to promotion from the Championship with a record number of points and victories, but was unable to save them from relegation this past season.
"We wish Vincent all the best and would like to emphasize our appreciation for his daily dedication as part of this football club," Burnley said in a statement.
