Will Real Madrid Make Signings in January? Here’s What Ancelotti Says
Carlo Ancelotti has addressed growing concerns over Real Madrid’s injuries, particularly those of Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, which have left the team’s defense in a fragile position.
While he hasn’t entirely ruled out the possibility of strengthening the squad in the winter transfer market, Ancelotti emphasized that his priority remains trusting the current roster, following the same strategy he employed last year.
The Italian coach acknowledged that injuries are an issue but stated that he hasn’t requested any signings yet, arguing that the team handled a similar situation well last season.
“We haven’t asked for reinforcements. The January market is complicated, and finding an ideal player for Real Madrid is not easy,” Ancelotti said. However, he left the door open for possible additions if the right opportunity arises.
Ancelotti has made it clear that he has confidence in the club’s internal options. Players like Lucas Vázquez have proven to be reliable alternatives at right-back, and he expects Alaba to return from injury soon.
That said, he admitted that the situation could change depending on how the injuries evolve and the team’s performance over the coming weeks.
Real Madrid has been linked with several defensive players, but any significant moves seem more likely to be aimed at the summer of 2025 rather than short-term fixes.
Ancelotti reiterated that unless an exceptional option presents itself, the club will maintain its policy of continuity rather than seeking immediate solutions.
